Moms Week | February 2025
Hello Moms,
Some journeys we never choose to take. The path of losing a child is one no parent should ever have to walk, yet here we are. I'm reaching out today not just as a therapist but as someone who has witnessed the profound depth of this loss through the eyes of countless parents, I've had the honor to support, including a family very dear to my own heart.
I want to tell you about an opportunity that has emerged from both heartbreak and hope. Through our newly established non-profit, Your Epic Comeback, we're partnering with the Glass House retreat center to offer a unique healing experience specifically for just six mothers who have lost children. (A small, intimate group is best for this sort of work).
The Glass House offers something I've never encountered elsewhere in my years of practice – a deep, transformative process of self-discovery and healing that honors both your loss and your need to find a way forward, without ever suggesting you need to "move on." Their expert team understands that while the weight of loss never truly leaves us, we can learn to carry it differently.
This retreat has been made possible in part through the Colin Halleland Memorial Scholarship, named for the wonderful young soul who lived with our family in 2017-2018 and left us far too soon at age 18. His story, and the middle-of-the-night phone call with his mother that followed, remain etched in my heart, driving our commitment to support parents navigating this unthinkable journey.
The poet David Eagleman writes about three deaths: when the body ceases to function, when it's laid to rest, and "that moment, sometime in the future, when your name is spoken for the last time." Through this retreat, we honor not just the memories of our children, but the continuing impact their lives can have on the world through the healing and growth of those they left behind.
Details:
Dates: February 24 - 28, 2025

As I wrote in my recent book "When Grief is Good" and explored further in the "Epic Comeback" workbook, there are tools and pathways that can help us navigate this devastating loss. While we can never replace what was taken from us, we can learn to live again – not despite our loss, but alongside it.
If you feel called to join us, or if you simply want to learn more, please reach out. You can enter your information below or call me directly at 507-319-9348.
With deep care,
Cindy Finch, LCSW
